Dickson Baptist Church is committed to providing safe spaces, services and programs that model the love of Christ to all whom we have contact with; particularly children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Dickson Baptist Church has an established Safe Church Team with the responsibility of overseeing our Safe Church Policy and our church’s commitment to being a safe space, as well as responding to any potential concerns or complaints.

Dickson Baptist Church has implemented the ten Child Safe Standards, which were developed by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and also has implemented the ACT Child Safe Standards. As a church we are audited by the Baptist Association of NSW & ACT on our church’s policies, procedures and practices against the ten Child Safe Standards. Our successful completion of this audit has enabled us to display the Safe Church Health Check signage and logo.

Every adult working with children or young people holds a valid Working with Vulnerable People card and completes Creating Safe Spaces training every four years. We use strict screening procedures and train our leaders and volunteers to understand their responsibilities in ensuring that our Church is a safe place. We have a process in place for anyone (including children and young people) to be able to raise any concerns that they may have, and for the Church to respond in a timely and appropriate manner, including the reporting of their concerns to the relevant authorities if appropriate.
